Dubai, UAE – The low-income families committee, a leading branch of Dar Al Ber Society, ran 13 diverse charity projects in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain in the first half of the year for the benefit of vulnerable people.

Khalfan Khalifa Al Mazrouie, Chairman of Dar Al Ber Society, said the projects carried out so far are in line with the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“We are also grateful to His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain for his relentless support to the Committee.”

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, said the Committee spent Dh8,053,774 on an array of 13 philanthropic schemes in the first six months of the year.

“Up to 1,626 indigent families, spanning low-income people, students, orphans, people with determination, defaulters, inmates, and patients benefited from these projects.”

As many as 404 families received Dh2,405,109 as monthly allowances, he added. “These were apart from Dh1,837,963 contributed to 203 students, and Dh298,438 given to 17 Emirati families for buying their basic and necessary furniture.”

Ali Al Asi, Chairman of the Low-income families committee, said Dar Al Ber maintained 32 houses of Emirati families against Dh737,805, while 32 orphans were supported with Dh245,800, and eight children with determination were assisted with Dh37,000.

Al Asi said they provided health aids, worth Dh382,955 for 27 families, and got supplied electricity to 40 families against Dh272,847. “Up to 17 inmates were assisted with Dh753,173, and 200 destitute people were helped perform Umrah against Dh457,600.”
